People who experience chronically cold hands and feet may have a condition called Raynaud's disease. This disease causes the small arteries in hands and toes to narrow. Narrowed arteries are less capable of moving blood through the body and create the conditions for poor circulation.
I had not heard of this disease prior to starting our “fur for warmth” business and have learned this condition causes many difficultly for the people it affects. The syndrome ranges in severity, and is far more common than I ever realized. A google search of Raynaud’s disease, thankfully, pulls up a multitude of resources and information. Facebook also has numerous support groups for people to join and some cities have local support chapters.
There are a couple of things that I have come to light both through researching and by talking to our customers who have to deal with the disease and its symptoms. While stress is a biggy, feeling the cold seems to be the strongest trigger for almost everyone. Some others think it is the combination of cold temperatures and texture triggering. Rougher textures against hands or feet, this may include the roughness of disposable warmers and their fabric coverings.
Gratefully, many Raynaud’s sufferers have now discovered our fur warmers. The combination of warmth and softness, can have a role by helping to avoid an episode from occurring and speed recovery once one occurs. Aurora Heat warmers are very soft - simply and naturally keeping hands and feet warm. The fur traps a person’s own heat, and once it is returning, the warmer holds that early warmth, acting as insulation. Aurora Heat™ has shown to help people feel more comfortable and warm up more quickly.
Sadly, some tell us they avoid the outdoors when it is cold while others use boxes and boxes of disposable warmers to combat their symptoms. This is not a sustainable living situation and we want to help. Preparing for the cold by slipping our all natural, reusable warmers in mitts, boots and pockets works and is simply better for the environment. Natural fur will extend time outdoors and more people can then enjoy the reduction in stress that occurs while being in nature. We offer the natural solution, it is "fur for warmth!"
